Our Story

Y2 was founded by Lucas, Diane, Susie, Muskan and Samantha in early 2015 when all but Lucas were in high school. We observed that there were many entrepreneurial resources for post-secondary students and adults, however there wasn’t much that was available to teens and pre-teens.

To address this gap, we ran a conference specifically for high-school students that taught content similar to what incubators were teaching their startup founders. We received warm support from Seneca College’s HELIX incubator, who became our founding partner and venue sponsor, and from the community, as more than 30 business owners and professionals from around Toronto and York Region volunteered as coaches, mentors, speakers, and judges.

Today, we partner with school boards and schools to teach in-classroom programs, including our core 11-module curriculum, ICE Challenges, and customized problem-based learning workshops. We also train teachers on how to run their own design thinking workshops in their schools. And we still run the annual conference.
